BALTAN, NIMk and Piksel have launched an open call for proposals as part of the exhibition project Funware. We are looking for interesting new software art projects that can be developed in the period of June to November 2010 through a shared residency. The new work developed during the residency will be presented in the Funware exhibition at MU in Eindhoven, at HMKV in Dortmund and as part of the Piksel festival 2010. Continue reading

Call: Harvestworks Residency [us NYC, NY]

harvestworks.gifHarvestworks Artist In Residency Program:: New Works Residency :: Deadline April 1, 2010 for projects beginning July 1, 2010 ::

The New Works Residency Program offers commissions of up to $4000 to make a new work in our state of the art digital media facility. The artist works with a project manager, engineer and programmer (if required). New works may include multiple channel audio or video installations, interactive performance systems, data visualization or projects involving hardware hacking, circuit bending or custom built interfaces, as well as projects that use the web. Emerging artists and artists of color are encouraged to apply. Residencies run from July 1, 2010 - June 30, 2011.

Call for NYC-based Composers - 6 Residencies [NYC, NY]

NYC Performing Arts Spaces is pleased to announce an open call for applications for the Spring 2010 round of the Con Edison Musicians’ Residency: Composition Program.

New York City-based composers in all music genres are invited to apply for one of six (6) three-month residencies at one of three cultural facilities. The newly-expanded residency program will provide awardees with use of suitable composition and rehearsal space for a three-month period, as well as a stipend. Net_Music_Weekly: "Chirps" by Joao Vasco Paiva

chirps.jpgVideotage is proud to present Hong Kong-based Portuguese artist Joao Vasco Paiva as the first selected artist-in-residence of fuse:: residency program 2010. The objective of fuse:: residency program has always been encouraging individuals interested in the field of new media art, be it art & technology, art & science or art & anything, to create new works. With the support from Videotage, Joao Vasco Paiva will bring the audience a new sculptural sound installation Chirps, through which he creates a score by determining rules.

The prototype of the work (v1) was presented in the Microwave International New Media Art Festival 2009 in which a set of toy birds performed a sequence of calls and movement interfered by the passers-by at the lobby of Langham Hotel, while this time, Vasco has made the toy birds migrate to the raw space of Videotage where they would react to the motion and sound of a new player - a real mynah bird. The Baltic Art Centre (Visby, Sweden) residency program for artists, curators and contemporary art writers from the Baltic and Nordic countries is now open for application.

To be eligible for the residency you have to be a professional working artist, curator or contemporary art writer from one of the Baltic or Nordic countries (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Greenland or the Faroe Islands), or be based professionally in one of these countries. Artists working in digital media and the electronic arts, whose work would benefit from significant studio time and expert engineering assistance, are encouraged to apply for a Van Lier Residency at Harvestworks.

The fellowships are open to young, post-graduate New York-based artists from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in the electronic arts. The one-year residencies help advance Van Lier fellows’ professional development and promote diversity, equity and access in the arts. Continue reading

Call: Lovely Weather Artists Residencies [ie Donegal]

building-15.jpgInternational Call for Participation :: Lovely Weather Artists’ Residencies related to art and climate change :: to take place in 2009-2010 :: Donegal County, Ireland :: Deadline: August 3, 2009

Five residencies are proposed in the five Electoral Areas of County Donegal, Ireland. One per area. Artist must apply to one of the 5 areas. Residencies will be of 4 - 11 weeks in duration (although proposals for shorter or longer periods can be considered). The successful artists will not necessarily have to be resident in Donegal for the entire duration of the project. But they must demonstrate a commitment to working on the ground during at least part of the residency.

The commissioned artists will receive a fee of circa €15,000 for fees/research/travel & materials. Please note exact amounts will be confirmed at a later stage in the commissioning process. Continue reading

Structure, Process and Perception of a River

residency.jpgBinauralmedia and Nodar Artist Residency Center announce: Paivascapes #1 Structure, Process and Perception of a River :: February - October 2010 :: International Open Call for Art Projects — Deadline: September 30, 2009.

The Nodar Artist Residency Program for 2010 will have a single aggregating subject: the Paiva River. Throughout the year, from winter to autumn, several multidisciplinary art projects (having sound as a central element) will be developed in a context-specific perspective, interacting with the river’s different geographical areas, from its spring to its mouth. A tribute to a small river that is a symbol of a region that (still) can live in a well-balanced interaction with nature. Continue reading
