shut up and listen! enters its fourth season in 2009. This edition’s title ‘Land der Berge’ (german for ‘land of the mountains’, referring to Austria’s national anthem of the same name) points at the ‘typical Austrian’ in all his ambivalence, as well as highlighting artistic positions related to alpine experiences. In concerts, sound projections and listening spaces, the festival presents electroacoustic works and sound art projects, as well as music for dulcimer, (counter) guitar or self-invented instruments. Additional works were retrieved through an open call in cooperation with Austrian music institutions. Finally, a lecture sheds light on the history of the Austrian national anthem.
