Listening to Our Planet :: April 20, 2009; 10:00 am – 6:00 pm :: Conaway Center, 1104 S. Wabash Ave., 1st floor, Chicago, IL.
Listening to Our Planet is a multidisciplinary, multi-departmental event which will happen during Earth Week 2009. This event is part of Columbia College Chicago’s Critical Encounters calendar of events; Human / Nature is the theme for this year’s Critical Encounters program. The purposes of Listening to Our Planet are: to celebrate the Earth and its natural beauty and resources; and to raise awareness about issues relating to our environment, such as pollution and global warming; and to give opportunities for Columbia College students, faculty, and staff to present work that relates to these themes.
Listening to Our Planet will involve poetry and essay readings, audio recordings, and other art forms. The English Department, the New Millennium Studies program, and other Columbia College departments and programs will be involved with Listening to Our Planet. In addition, this event will showcase work by individuals involved with organizations in the community, such as the World Listening Project.
