Criteria:
The goal of these commissions is to support artists who explore
and interpret the possibilities for artistic innovation on the Internet.
We will consider projects that open up the possibility of collaboration,
communication, and interactivity/exchange with others: projects
that actively engage the user are encouraged. We will also look
for information-based projects and projects that create unique systems
of data organization. Software art is also acceptable.
Guidelines:Artist's proposals should be in the form of a
web site that includes: (i)
a well defined and compelling description of the project's core
concept and how it will make creative use of the Internet; (ii)
details on how the project will be realized and with whom
collaborators must be namedand preliminary technical specifications;
(iii) a
short biography; and (iv)
up to three examples of prior work accessible on the web that demonstrate
the artist's ability to complete the project.
Timeline:
Artists awarded a commission will be notified in early July and
will have 3-5 months to complete the work: the launch dates will
be negotiated with project staff. All works will be promoted to
the Turbulence mailing list and other list serves: press, arts organizations,
colleges and universities, and galleries and museums.
